1. The Dark Woods

1-1

Jack couldn't sleep.

잭은 잠을 잘수 없었다.

He put his glasses on. He looked at the clock. 5:30

그는 안경을 썼다. 그는 시계를 봤다. 5시 30분이였다.

Too early to get up.

너무 일찍 일어났다.

Yesterday so many strange things had happened. Now he was trying to figure them out.

어제 너무나 이상한 일들이 일어났다. 오늘 그는 그들을 알아내려 하고 있다.

He turned on the light. He picked up his notebook. 

그는 불을 켰다. 그는 공책을 집었다.

He looked at the list he'd made before going to bed

[found tree house in woods]

[found lots of books in it]

[pointed to pteranodon picture in book]

[책속의 프테라노돈 사진을 가리켰다]

[made a wish]

[소원을 빌었다]

[went to time of dinosaurs]

[공룡시대로 갔다]

[pointed to picture of Frog Creek woods]

[Frog Creek 숲의 사진을 가리켰다]

[made a wish]

[소원을 빌었다]

[come home to Frog Creek]

[Frog Creek 집으로 갔다]

Jack pushed his glasses into place. Who was going to believe any of this?

잭은 안경을 제자리에 넣었다. 누가 이걸 믿겠어요

Not his mom. Or his dad. Or his third-grade teacher, Ms. Watkins.

엄마도 안믿고. 또 아빠도 안믿겠지. 또 그의 선생님 Ms. Watkins도.

Only his sev-en-year-old sister, Annie. She'd gone with him to the time of the dinosaurs.

7살인 그의 여동생, 애니뿐. 그녀는 그와 함께 공룡시대로 떠났다.

"Can't you sleep?"

"잘수 없어?"

It was Annie, standing in his doorway.

그건 애니였다, 그의 방문에 서있었다.

"Nope," said Jack.

"아니," 잭이 말했다.

"Me neither," said Annie. "What are you doing?"

"나도," 애니가 말했다. "무슨일이야?"

She walked over to Jack and looked at his notebook. She read the list.

"그녀는 잭에게 걸어가서 그의 공책을 봤다. 그녀는 목록을 읽었다.

"Aren't you going to write about the gold medal?" she asked.

"금메달에 대해서는 쓰지 않을거야?" 그녀가 말했다.

"You mean the gold medallion," said Jack.

"금메달을 말하는거야," 잭이 말했다.
