10. Home Before Dark

A bird began to sing.

새는 노래 부르기 시작했다.

Jack opened his eyes. He was still point-ing at the picture of the Frog Creek woods.

잭은 눈을 떴다. 그는 여전히 Frog Creek 숲의 사진을 가리키고 있었다.

He peeked out the tree house window.

그는 나무집 창문밖을 훔쳐봤다.

Outside he saw the exact same view.

밖에서 그는 똑같은 풍경을 봤다.

"We're home," whispered Annie.

"우리 집이야," 애니가 소리쳤다.

The woods were lit with a golden late-afternoon light. The sun was about to set.

숲은 늦은 오후 황금빛으로 빛났다. 태양은 지고 있었다.

No time had passed since they'd left.

그들이 떠난지 얼마 지나지 않았다.

"Ja-ack! An-nie!" a voice called from the distance.

"재에에액! 애뉘이이!" 멀리서 부르는 목소리.

"That's Mom," said Annie, pointing.

"엄마다," 애니가 말했다, 가르키며

Jack saw their mother far away. She was standing in front of their house. She looked very tiny.

잭은 멀리 있는 그들의 엄마를 봤다. 그녀는 그들의 집 앞에 서있었다. 그녀는 매우 작아 보였다.

"An-nie! Ja-ack!" she called.

"애뉘이이! 재에엑!" 그녀가 불렀다.

Annie stuck her head out the window and shouted, "Come-ing!"

애니는 창문밖으로 고개를 내밀며 소리쳤다, "가고 있어요!"

Jack still felt dazed. He just stared at Annie.

잭은 여전히 아찔한 기분이였다. 그는 그저 애니를 응시했다.

"What happened to us" he said.

"우리에게 무슨일이 일어난거야" 그는 말했다.

"We took a trip in a magic tree house," said Annie simply.

"우리는 마법의 나무집으로 여행을 했어," 애니가 간단하게 말했다.

"But it's the same time as when we left," said Jack.

"그런데 우리가 떠났을 때와 같은 시간이야," 잭은 말했다.

Annie shrugged.

애니는 어깨를 으쓱했다.

  dazed : 멍한, 아찔한

  shrugged : (어깨를) 으쓱했다
