9. The Amazing Ride

 9-1 

The Pterandon coasted down to the ground.

프테라노돈은 땅으로 내려왔다.

He stared at Jack with his bright, alert eyes.

그는 밝고 기민한 눈으로 잭을 쳐다봤다. 

What was Jack supposed to do? Climb on? "But I'm too heavy, " thought Jack.

잭은 어떻게 하기로 했나요? 올라가기? "그런데 나는 너무 무거워," 잭은 생각했다.

Don't think Just do it.

생각말고 그냥 해.

Jack looked at the Tyrannosaurus.

잭은 티라노사우루스를 쳐다봤다.

He was starting up the hill. His giant teeth were flashing in the sunlight.

그는 언덕을 오르기 시작하고 있었다. 그의 거대한 이빨은 햇빛에 반짝이고 있었다.

Okay. Don't think. Just do it.

좋아. 생각말고. 그냥 하기.

Jack put his book in his pack. Then he eased down onto the Pteranodon's back.

잭은 가방에 책을 넣었다. 그때 그는 프테라노돈의 등으로 천천히 내려왔다.

He held on tightly.

그는 꽉 붙잡았다.

The creature moved forward. He spread out his wingsㅡand lifted off the ground!

그 생명체는 앞으로 움직였다. 그는 날개를 펼쳐서  땅에 날아올랐다.

They teetered this way. Then that.

그들은 이쪽으로 비틀거렸다. 그때 그거

Jack nearly fell off.

잭은 거의 떨어질 뻔했다.

The Pteranodon steadied himself, then rose into the sky.

프테라노돈은 스스로 안정되었다, 그때 하늘로 올라갔다.

Jack looked down. The Tyrannosaurus was chomping the air and staring up at him.

잭은 아래를 쳐다봤다. 티라노사우루스는 입맛을 다시며 그를 올려다보고 있었다.

The Pteranodon glided away.

프테라노돈은 멀리 날아갔다.

He sailed over the hilltop.

그는 언덕 꼭대기를 넘어 나아갔다.

He circled over the valley. Over all the nests filled with babies.

그는 골짜기 위를 빙빙 돌았다. 아기들로 가득찬 모든 둥지 위에

Over all the giant duck-billed dinosaurs.

모든 거대한 오리부리 공룡 위에

Then the Pteranodon soared out over the plainㅡover the Triceratops who was grazing in the high grass.

그때 프테라노돈은 땅위로 솟아 올랐다ㅡ높은 풀밭에서 풀을 뜯어먹고 있는 프리케라톱스의 위로 

 

 

 

* coasted : 저절로 움직이다, 부드럽게 움직이다.

  stared : 응시했다, 빤히 쳐다보다

  alert : 기민한, 경계하는

  supposed to : 생각하다, 추정하다

  eased : 편해지다, 덜해지다, 천천히 움직이다 

  tightly : 단단히, 꽉, 뺵뺵이

  teetered : 불안정하게 움직이다

  steadied : 안정된

  chomping : 쩝쩝 먹다

  grazing : 풀을 뜯다, 방목하다
